CTMH is pleased to announce that Dr. Matthias Herzig, Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon will be joining their already well-established medical team. Dr. Herzig is well qualified for the role. He graduated from Heinrich-Heine-University Medical School in Duesseldorf, Germany in 1990, and qualified as General Surgeon in 2001.
In addition, Dr. Matthias Herzig trained for three years at the Centre of Excellence for Computer Navigated Joint Arthroplasty at the Lukas Hospital in Buende, Germany. Since 2005 he has been practicing as a Specialist Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in Germany, Scotland and England.
Aside from his General Orthopaedic, Trauma and Sports Medicine activities, Dr. Herzig has developed a special interest in lower limb surgery including:
- Hip and Knee Joint restoration and replacement
- Soft Tissue Knee Injuries
- Foot and Ankle Surgery
“We are very excited about Dr. Herzig joining our team at CTMH” stated Dr. Steve Tomlinson. “With more specialist surgeons on the island, we are enabling the people of the Cayman Islands to have access to the physicians they need without having to travel off the island for specialist care.” Dr. Herzig is board certified as an Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in the Cayman Islands. Dr. Tomlinson furthers, “We feel confident that Dr. Herzig will fill a much-needed area of specialty, especially for patients suffering from diabetes or other auto-immune disorders that may require ongoing Orthopaedic services.”
Dr. Herzig will be joining CTMH in August 2010 and recently stated; “I am excited about the opportunity to join CTMH as Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon and I look forward to contributing to the Orthopaedic Service on the Cayman Islands…Caymanians can soon expect a dedicated and patient focused Orthopaedic and Trauma Service in accordance with the highest professional standards in the medical industry…I look forward to Joining the team at CTMH and wish everybody a very happy 10th anniversary!”
